World War 2 Events
What are GMA’s objectives for the D-Day events?
To create high quality 2WW battle weekends using Airsoft to enhance the experience!
GMA has been running high quality Airsoft experiences since 2001 and we pride ourselves on value for money, fun and memorable times which are all rolled into a fluid and professionally run event. We don’t run just games we run experiences!
The D-Day series is not a historical re-enactment of the actual events of 1944 but more a movie like adaptation with the actual events being the back-story and the action and adventure taking the front! At the end of the day everyone that books on to these events is looking to be the hero of the hour or work with their mates to defeat the enemy and call victory at the end of the weekend. Honour amongst friend and foe is demanded from all participants and due to the nature of Airsoft, is already at a very high level. Everyone that takes part naturally trusts everyone else!
So why 2nd World War?
So many have asked this question and for most airsofters means going out and buying new kit and rifles or at least renting gear to fit in, so mainly more cost. In truth, it’s the atmosphere these events produce and the respect all have for this period of time that make it so worth running. Even if you’re not into the 2ww you’ll know enough about it to hold a conversation and the topic not be alien to you, Its something we all have in common. For me personally, it’s watching those that take part all automatically give with out asking, as much responsibility to make the event an amazing experience as we have put in! GMA has run 4 2ww events now and all of them have produced a level of game play and honour only the very best games can claim.
It also has a wonderful pace to it, unlike modern scenarios that are all about kicking down doors and taking names, 2ww scenarios take planning and team work to co-ordinate and complete, with only a handful of field radios, Command Points become a vital resource for orders, information and intelligence on the enemy.
The first D-Day event was a long time in the planning and had so many obstacles to negotiate, but come November 2007 we couldn’t have asked for any more from the people that staffed and the players themselves! The pictures tell a thousand different stories and the game play was excellent!
We hope you all enjoy the D-Day series, which will take us all on the long journey to Berlin and the Liberation of Europe.
Cheers
Josh
